| | | Following a storming debut appearance back in May, Belfast’s original, biggest and best reggae collective return to the stage of The Empire Music Hall on 5th July. ‘Version’ caters for lovers of classic reggae sounds – from dub to dancehall and rocksteady to ska. The event has been running for over five years in various venues, such as The Black Box and The Crescent Arts Centre and demand has been such that the collective have now relocated to the larger capacity Empire. | | | | Local selectors Michael McKeown (Hydroponic Music) & Explosion Sound System spearhead the event, and previous appearances have come thick and fast from the likes of Trojan Records, Blood and Fire Sound System and The Rootsman to name a few. | | | | The next installment sees the collective take to the stage of the larger capacity Empire Music Hall - Local reggae aficionados Explosion Sound System will perform alongside a decks and effects set from Michael McKeown (Hydroponic Music). The sound system shenanigans will be bolstered on the night by a live vocal duel – its boy versus girl and microphones set to stun as MC KROW and MC KAT drop some vocal bombs in the mix. As if all that wasn’t enough, there’s some live African drumming thrown in for good measure. This is undoubtedly the only event of its kind in the city of Belfast – in a word – “CRUCIAL!” www.myspace.com/hydroponicmusic www.myspace.com/explosionreggae RETURN TO NEWS | |
